1. Supporting lower-carbon care
Apos® is a durable, non-invasive medical device designed to be worn for a short period each day. By supporting conservative care and, where clinically appropriate, helping some patients avoid or delay surgery, it can offer a lower-carbon pathway than surgical alternatives.
2. What the review considers
- Durable device: a reusable device designed to support an extended treatment period rather than a single clinical intervention.
- Reduced patient travel: treatment is worn at home for around one hour a day, which can reduce repeated travel associated with some care pathways.
- Manufacturing and shipping: the review considers the materials, manufacture and transport associated with delivering the device.
- Ongoing review: we continue to review the data and the opportunities to reduce the impact of our operations, supply chain and care pathways.
3. Our wider commitment
Our approach to sustainability includes measuring and reducing operational emissions, using resources responsibly and engaging with suppliers. Our Carbon Reduction Plan sets out our Net Zero commitment, emissions baseline, reduction measures and governance.
